The exhibition will last a month displaying 56 oils, some watercolors and drawings. Their subjects are the artist’s family circle. Some of the works have been published in researches and catalogues of past exhibitions, but the greater number will be exhibited for the first time. It is a non- profit exhibition in collaboration with the Atelier of Spyros Vassiliou, and the subsidy of the distillery of ouzo Plomari and the support of the telecommunications Starconnect.
In the gallery of the antique shop, art lovers will have the opportunity to admire portraits of Spyros Vassiliou’s family, as well as compositions depicting personal moments of the great artist. Quoting the art historian Athina Schina, prefacing the catalogue, “…Spyros Vassiliou created with his art the script of his life, much like a “movie” through time. This movie is showed as a memorandum of a man and an artist who was much loved, because he knew the way to create a familiarity with his viewers and unite them with his close family as they became familiar, became ours, by dissolving distances”.
